Big Trouble In Atlanta

What a season the Atlanta Falcons are having!

On Tuesday their head coach, Bobby Petrino, quit his job and returned to college football as coach of Arkansas.

Petrino didn't have the decency to announce his departure to his team personally. Instead, he wrote a note and left it in the locker-room.

Earlier this year I had a dream that Atlanta would win the Super Bowl. I was going to choose them for my season bet but, within weeks of having this premonition, Michael Vick - the team's quarterback - was caught involved in a dog fighting syndicate. He is currently working through a twenty-three month prison term.

The loss of Vick didn't give Petrino the ideal start to his tenure at the Falcons. The team had only won three games out of thirteen before he walked.

Thankfully, I didn't place that bet on Atlanta to win the big one. I didn't place it on New England, either. They are the ones who I now think will win in February.
