The entire UK seems to be going crazy over these Doctor Who Cybermen Masks. They are the number one toy for Christmas and guess who wants one?
Josh has asked for it and every single shop in Cardiff has sold out. I have even gone online in the hope of finding it for my parents but have had no luck - of sorts.
You see, they have it listed on Play.com but the price is £39.99 whereas every other shop has been selling it for £29.99.
I thought maybe they had made a mistake with the listing so I rang them up asking them if they had made the mistake. The operator checked the pricing for me and told me that they hadn't made a mistake.
The phone call then turned into a dispute as I asked him how the company could justify charging ten pounds more than any other outlet when they always announce on their site how much their customers make in savings from the recommended retail price.
His response was 'well, if thats the amount they want to pay.' Which really got my goat. I then said; 'ah, so it's okay to rip off the paying public? Fair enough.'
The conversation ended there but I was fuming. To left off a bit of steam I sent off a letter to their helpdesk and as per usual they have declined to respond.
Play.com is usually a good company for their offers but when a lot of children are wanting a talking mask for Christmas it seems like daylight robbery when a company charges ten pounds over the price they should be.
The hunt is all over for us now, anyway. My mother picked one up in Newport this afternoon.
I can't wait to see Josh's reaction when he sees it!
