A Waste Of Time

I woke up at eight this morning in order to register for the freeroll to the Luton Christmas Cracker event. It was held in conjunction with Poker Player Magazine and Blue Square Poker.

I logged into my account ready to register and the server wouldn't allow me to put my name down as it was by 'invite only'.

Then, a few minutes later I was bombarded with pop-ups on the site saying 'we are aware of the registration problem with the Poker Player Freeroll please do not ping a host.'

The major problem here is the staff were drawing attention to a tournament that was really only intended for readers of the publication and to add insult to the injury I was suffering I was appalled at their customer service telling people not to message them.

Isn't that their job?

I emailed the editor of Poker Player, Dave Woods and told him about the problem. When I returned from work there was a reply in my inbox and he apologised for the problems and said that in future his magazine will not get involved with poker sites that do not offer a password protection on the tournaments.

There were over 400 players in the game and I got frustrated with the all-in moves early on that I - mimicking their style - went all-in with a pair of eights hoping to double up or save my evening by knocking myself out.

I, of course, ended up bumping into my old foe the queen pair and left the tournament.

Poor form by myself for playing such a weak hand. Even more shame should be brought upon Blue Square for their Basil Fawlty approach to running a freeroll which will more than likely end with at least one non-reader winning one of the five tickets to Luton.
