The WWE must be wearing red faces at this current moment in time after falling for a hoax.
A few days ago the WWE's website announced that Corporal Kirchner who wrestled for the company during the early 1980's had passed away.
As I was intending to write a story on him for the blog I looked up his name on imdb.com. I typed in 'Corporal Kirchner' in the search and his biography appeared but his real name was listed as 'Michael Kirchner' rather than the 'Thomas Spear' that had been mentioned in the write-up of his passing.
I didn't think much about it at first as -because of the pro wrestling links - it is possible that the real and stage names become blurred so it was possible that those who complie the information for the Internet Movie Databse could have got it wrong.
I decided not to write about Kirchner after all and then last night something suspicious happened.
The WWE pulled the Kirchner story from thir site and Wade Keller, editor of the Pro Wrestling Torch informed his VIP members that he had received an email from someone alleging to be Kirchner's mother informing the newsletter editor that her son was still with us.
The news has just broke on a few more major wrestling news sites that the death was a hoax. A hoax that the WWE fell for.
And in an ironic twist - the WWE had yet to follow the lead of all the other sites and announce that their former employee is alive and well.
