I have now become a fully paid up member of the APAT (Amateur Poker Association & Tour).
The group has been set up in order for players who don't earn a living from poker to experience live and online poker with a professional feel.
The tour starts in September at the Broadway Casino in Birmingham. The entry fee is £75 which, if compared to the £500 buy in expected for other tournaments, is a bargain. Of course, the limit is for 120 players so there will be a fight for a place.
The APAT also hold online tournaments every two weeks on pokerstars.com and I will be playing in their Italian Amateur Poker Open this weekend. Imagine it - Me being a winner of an Italian poker event and not having been to the country!
The live Welsh Amateur Poker Open takes place on the weekend of November 18th and 19th. I am hoping that I will be picked to participate in this one as it is possibly my only realistic option of taking part in their live tournaments.
