Flushed Out

I was in the Poker Player Magazine Grand Prix II tournament and had what was possibly the worst bad beat I have ever had. Once again, the queens were involved!

I was dealt A Q unsuited and I had a raiser following on from my raise and a caller to that raise. So there were three of us involved in the hand.

The flop had another queen and no other straight or flush draws. The queen was the highest card on the board and I had the higher kicker as I had an ace.

I went all-in to give the other two players bad pot odds to make a call. I had a call from the re-raiser and a fold by the other player so it was a showdown between me and the user named Chimpie.

He turned over A J of hearts so I was in the lead as my pair of queens were the better pair. There was another heart on the board but I didn't feel worried by it. Until, of course, the turn card came out as another heart. The seconds seemed to go in slow motion for the final card and I predicted what was going to happen before it occured.

'He's going to get another heart.' I prophesied. And he did.

What a stupid call! The guy had nothing when I made the all-in move and he got lucky with the final two cards.

I am sure it isn't going to be the last time I get an unlucky run like this. I'll fight on and come back with a vengeance. I still have five months to make a big impact. Somehow. Somewhere.
