Bargain Hunt

I have been playing in the rebuy tournaments on Blue Square Poker that are $3.50 to enter the final for the May 27th seat to the World Poker Tour event in Paris.

The problem I have found in these satellite events is that I am playing against a bunch of crazy players who will call and raise with anything knowing that if they lose their chips they have the opportunity to claim more during the rebuy and add-on periods in the games. It makes for some dreadful play and it annoys me to the extent that I am often cursing them out in the chat feature on the program.

I realise I have no chance qualifying for it with this style of opponent so looked around other sites I am a member of and found a decent way of qualifying. The qualifiers are on BetFred Poker and cost $18. For every 20 players in the tournament there is entry to the site's final on May 28th. Then the top player heads off to Paris in June.

I played one game tonight and was top for most of it. With only 24 entrants I had a good chance of winning. I made it to the final 5 but lost my chips to the player who had a few chips more than me when I went all-in with a pair of Jacks meeting his pair of Kings in the showdown.

I was close and I will have another go in the next few days. The 2am starts are a bit of a problem because tiredness will play a part in my decision making at the table. The great part about this though is if you lose, you lose. No rebuying means I can bluff and know that some may fold right away. It suits my style of play.

And as for all those people thinking 'what is he going to do if he does win entry to Paris?' I shall cross that bridge when I come to it.

Or should I say cross that tunnel?
