A Weird Day

It was a surreal day.

Two days ago I hurt myself at work and have been struggling sitting down and picking things up so I was relishing today. I was intending on staying in bed as long as I could.

The phone woke me just before eight.

I decided that I would head off to town at 11am so I hobbled to the bus stop and stood and waited for the bus to arrive. The pain was getting the better of me so I decided to walk home and spend the rest of the day sitting on a cushioned seat and play poker.

Not so fast!

As I was walking to the house there was a figure approaching me. I didn't think anything of it at first until she came closer and I realised she was looking at me, so I decided to exchange a glance with her.

Our eyes met and for what seemed like forever we both realised who each other were and turned away and walked off.

Sarah had walked back in to my life after all these years. I shook my head at the irony that it was only a few days ago that I had mentioned her in this blog and went and texted my best friend Miguel to tell him what had just happened.

Then something else surprising happened and I relayed that information to him and his response was; 'Don't gamble today. It's not going to be a lucky day.'

Without listening to him I went and entered a $10 freeezeout tournament on Ladbrokes and was the first person eliminated with my initial hand.

By three o'clock I decided it was time to play in a free tournament to save some money (I had finally come around to the fact that the day was cursed) so I played on Jet Set Poker's pot limit freeroll.

There were six hundred and forty six entrants including myself and I sat at the PC for nearly four hours playing the game. I ended up finishing in 12th place netting me a whopping sixty five cents.

And who was Miguel to say it was going to be an unlucky day at the office?
