She was telling me that the cobbler she goes to was away on holiday and wouldn't be back for a week or so.
As if by magic, a witty response struck me instantly. I could not let this one slip...
'Is he in Italy, by any chance?'
'Why?' was the response I got.
'Because Italy is shaped like a boot.'
It led to me being called a silly sod. Or something to that effect!
Well.. I thought it was good.
