SummerSlam 2013 Leans

I cannot believe how many betting websites are offering odds on SummerSlam.

The event is on tonight and I do not know whether I will bet on any of the matches (yet!). What I will do, however, is go through each match and tell you what I think will happen.

The best way to start is with the preshow match.

Dean Ambrose .vs. Rob Van Dam for the US Title

Ambrose should win this. However, RVD has just returned and this is the match where they try to entice people to purchase the pay-per-view event. Yes, yes, I write that every time. Last month was the exception to the rule, though. Slight lean on RVD by DQ.

Bet on the SummerSlam preshow match with Paddy Power.

Brie Bella .vs. Natalya

This has Brie Bella winning written all over it. I think this match will play somehow into the Total Divas storyline where the Bella Twins are looked upon as sexier and more gifted than Nattie.
Season 2 of Total Divas was commissioned earlier this week so they are not going to have the star of the show lose to the loser of the show just yet. Nattie is going to get her comeuppance at a later date.

Kane .vs. Bray Wyatt in an inferno match

An inferno match where nobody is going to get burned? Yeah, that's what was announced on Raw this past Monday night. I'm not bloodthirsty or anything but, what is the point in an inferno match if they aren't going to do the pyrotechnics and have one of the participants set alight like they had done in the late 1990s? On the subject of burning - if you want to bet on Kane, get the cash you intend to place on him and set it alight. At least you won't lose it gambling.

Bet on this match at Sky Bet

Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn .vs. Big E. Langston & AJ Lee

I have three heels winning so far. I now think it's time to back some babyfaces. This match could go either way but I am picking Ziggler and Kaitlyn.

Bet on this match with Sky Bet

Damien Sandow .vs. Cody Rhodes

If, and this is a big 'if', Damien Sandow loses here - he could come back later on in the show and cash in his Money in the Bank title shot against whomever wins in the match between Alberto Del Rio and Christian.
In yesterday's post, I noted how they are making too much of a deal on Randy Orton potentially cashing in his WWE title shot so wouldn't it be good writing to swerve the fans and have Sandow cash in his title shot on the card instead?
The only thing working against this idea is it will mean Del Rio loses to Christian and then Christian loses to Sandow.

Bet on this match with William Hill

Alberto Del Rio .vs. Christian for the World Heavyweight Title

I am going to look back at this post on Monday and ask myself 'what were you thinking?'  I've talked myself into betting on Christian for the reason I've mentioned above.

CM Punk .vs. Brock Lesnar

CM Punk was the favourite in betting until earlier this week when he got the upper hand over Lesnar on Monday night's edition of Raw.
I guess the bettors are going by the even-Steven way that WWE writers work by having the person who is going to lose on the Sunday look good on the Monday, or Friday, beforehand.
I'm calling for an exception to the booking rule and will take Punk here.

Bet on this match at 5Dimes

John Cena .vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship with Triple H as guest referee

I do not know how this will factor in to the future storyline but I have read and heard that Triple H is set to turn heel in this match tonight. Whether he will do this and side with Daniel Bryan or screw Bryan and get Orton to cash in the briefcase is something I cannot figure out as I sit here typing this out.
I had sold myself on a Damien Sandow cash in so - going against better judgement - I'm picking a Daniel Bryan and Triple H heel turn.
John Cena is taking time off for surgery in the imminent future as well so the title has to be taken off him, anyway.

Upon reflection
It's a few hours after I wrote the out. On second thoughts, I don't think they'll have Damien Sandow cash in his immediate title shot just yet. There is no way they would have created a new briefcase for Sandow if he's going to use it a few days later. I should have thought about that before making myself believe he would cash in.
