Matt Borne, Doink & His Demons

Professional wrestler, Matt Borne, was found dead by his girlfriend yesterday. He was fifty-six years old.

Borne, real name Matthew Osborne, worked around the Portland area early in his career and made appearances in places like WCW (as Big Josh) and ECW (as Borne Again). Unfortunately, he dealt with 'personal demons' which prevented him from reaching greater heights.

Fans of the WWF from the early 1990s will remember Borne playing the original Doink the Clown - a character that was perfect for the time.

His run as the evil clown lasted a little over a year. The previously mentioned 'demons' got in the way of that run. The gimmick was then passed on to Ray Apollo.

I guess his legacy will be that of a man who could have achieved a lot more than he did.
