A Roadblock (Of Sorts)

For the past week or so, I have slowly been putting together things for the 2026 edition of Taylor's Pro Football Gambling Annual.

Yes, I am planning to publish another one. It's an annual after all!

After finding out who will play who in 2026, I created tables for each game breakdown. I'm doing the teams in alphabetical order. Obviously, I cannot write about teams still in the playoffs because - for all I know - there could be a Super Bowl rematch played sometime in 2026. Or, like the roadblock I encountered today:

Table

I come across a game that will actually be played this weekend. This guarantees that, whatever happens on Saturday night, there's going to be a revenge game between the Bills and Broncos during the 2026 regular season.

I don't want to count the Bills out, but - if Denver goes on to win the Super Bowl - I could very much see this game being the season opener. The Super Bowl champions from the previous season always have a home game on the opening night. Well, mostly. Ironically, the last time that didn't happen was when the Baltimore Ravens couldn't play at home on the opening day of the 2013 regular season. They were forced to play from their road schedule instead. Their opponents: the Broncos.

That was also a revenge game stemming from a playoff loss.

The Ravens had beaten the Broncos 38-35 in double overtime of a divisional round game. The rematch, months later, saw the Broncos obliterate the Super Bowl champions with a score of 49-27. Peyton Manning threw SEVEN touchdowns for the Orange Crush on that night. Only eight quarterbacks in history share that record.

Having the Bills on the road for Week 1 of 2026 would also allow for a Week 2 Sunday Night or Monday Night game to be played in their new stadium.

BUT - I am getting way ahead of myself. There are eight teams left and I've already circled one team when I really want the other one to be champs come the early hours of February 9th.

Back to my spreadsheets. For now.

The Bills tables have been left to the side for the time being. I am on to Carolina. And then to Cincinnati.
