The food was bought from a then new takeaway shop here in Cardiff called Poutine Box. Now, over five years later - and having sampled a lot of the unique items on the business' menu, I consider it one of my favourite shops to order from.
I tried Poutine Box's Christmas-inspired poutine the other day. It - for sure - was one of their grandest inventions.
You have to take a look at this.
This menu item is called the 'Festive Feasting Deluxe (Christmas Edition)'. It has the ubiquitus fries and cheese curds that are part of a regular poutine. However, this special version has bone marrow gravy instead of the usual kind.
But, that's not all. As you can see above.
Along with the fries, curds and gravy are strips of roast chicken breast, crispy battered stuffing balls, a zingy cranberry sauce and... I'll let Poutine Box's description of the main event sell it to you - 'a show-stopping whole deep-fried camembert oozing molten goodness'.
I loved the meal. The only negative I can add, and it is a minor because it's just to my taste, I wasn't keen on the cranberry sauce's kick. With that said, I didn't get the aforementioned kick until the latter part of the meal. I had actually forgotten about it until my taste buds reminded me.
The chicken was nice and tender, the stuffing balls were lovely and the camembert truly was as described - oozing molten goodness.
I'd definitely buy this poutine meal again IF it returns for Christmas 2026.
