I genuinely cannot count how many episodes it has been, but I am far, far beyond the period I stopped watching as a child.
Kind of.
The sole exception goes like this: during the summer of 1992, I stayed at a caravan park somewhere in England. I recall watching an episode of Prisoner one night on that holiday. Our TVs were more regionalised back then, so the channel I watched the series was far ahead than where I was back home.
From that one episode, I recall seeing that Myra Desmond had returned to Wentworth Detention Centre. And that's where I currently am in present day.
Seeing Desmond in the series at this point made quite a lot of sense. She was very similar to Bea Smith, who had been written out of the programme.
One of the drawbacks of going this deep into Prisoner is knowing I am closer to the end than I am to the beginning. Also - Lizzie Birdsworth, my fave, has departed.
With all that said, I'm still enjoying this trip down memory lane. And beyond.
