I thought it was time to buy myself a new razor after the one I had been using (some company which sells theirs through Amazon) just was not doing it for me. It was time to head back to Gillette.
I knew I was going to buy the top-end Gillette offering from the Labs range. I came across a very nice looking green edition.
A limited edition at that.
It came in a carry case. That too, I thought, looked splendid.
I ended up mentioning it to my parents and they said they'd buy it for my birthday. I welcomed the offer and purchased the set and was then given the money to cover it. Fair deal.
Funnily enough, I timed the purchase perfectly. I received a text on the morning of my birthday informing me that Royal Mail would deliver the package later that day.
I thought to myself 'should I shave or wait to try out the new razor?' before I went for my shower. I opted for the former. I'm glad I bloody did.
After opening the package, once it was delivered, I pulled out my present and tried to open the travel case.
I couldn't.
'Ahh,' I noticed. 'I have to push the hook thingy at the top to open it'.
I tried. And failed.
Frustrated, I then went onto YouTube to see if I could find a video showing how to open the box. Thankfully, I came across a handful of instruction videos. The first one I clicked was the only one I needed.
The original approach - which appeared on a sticker on the case - did end up working, but - I still needed the video to confirm that I was doing it right.
So - yes, it was a very frustrating experience. The silver lining is I know I would have been even more vexed had I not shaved that morning.
Oh, and here's another thing about all of this: I found I wasn't alone. There are tons of comments under the videos of people who found themselves facing similar struggles.
One person made me legit laugh out loud.
Anyway, it's all good now. I love the razor. It looks brilliant. It works brilliantly.
