Foreman, Hogan And A Couple Of Grills

In yesterday's post, I wrote about George Foreman. I was going to mention something but decided not to because I didn't want to go slightly off topic. I'll mention it today, though.

We all know that Foreman found big fortune post-boxing by putting his name to a grill which became extremely popular.

Well - there's a story that has been associated with the George Foreman Grill that raises questions for an obvious reason.

Apparently, and this is a big APPARENTLY, George Foreman was not the first person approached to have his name associated with the product.

Hulk Hogan alleges he was close to being the endorser. He claims a company phoned him but he was out. The people behind the grill left an answer phone message, but The Hulkster didn't return the call.

The company then moved onto George Foreman and the rest is history.

Considering Hulk Hogan has a history of tall tales, I question the validity of the narrative.

With that said, Hogan did end up with his brand plugging a grill sometime in the mid-to-late 2000s.

Hulk Hogan Grill

I recall my friend's brother telling me he had had seen Hogan plugging the grill on an infomercial on one of the channels on cable TV here in the UK, so it did make its way to these shores.

The Hulk Hogan grill did not have as great a success as the Foreman grill. The main reason being the Hogan-endorsed product was pulled from sale due to issues with its safety.

Eek.

As I wrote this post, I found myself asking why didn't I go out of my way to buy a Hulk Hogan Grill? It's kind of in my ballpark to do something zany like that just for a laugh. I'm evidently glad I didn't consider what the end result was.
