The National Football League made the announcement yesterday.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, owned by the Rooney Family (with obvious links to Ireland), has been the team that had always been part of any discussion concerning a regular season NFL game in Dublin. Now it'll become a reality with Croke Park being the venue.

As of the time of writing, the Steelers' opponents have not been announced by the NFL. However, we do know which teams will visit the Steelers during the 2025 season, so the Dublin opponent will be one of the following: a division rival (Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland), Buffalo, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Miami, Minnesota, or Seattle.
Of those nine teams, Indianapolis and Miami will be a part of International Series games with 'home' fixtures in Berlin and Madrid respectively. I don't think that will absolutely rule them out of Dublin because the league might have either team play back-to-back games overseas. But, if I were a betting man (ha!), I'd cross the Colts and Dolphins off the speculation list.
Earlier this week, the NFL revealed that there will be a regular season game played in Australia for the first time.
The 2026 fixture will see the Los Angeles Rams compete as the designated home team at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
