I Try Dr. Pepper Cherry Crush

A couple of days ago, I published a post sharing my thoughts after sampling a couple of new Pepsi flavours that have launched over here in the UK. Well - I follow that up with news of another special flavour from a well-known soda brand.

Dr. Pepper Zero has launched a new 'Cherry Crush' flavour. I surmise it's timed to coincide with Valentine's Day, or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Either way, I've chosen today to write about it.

I was first made aware of Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar Cherry Crush through an email from one of the local shops. Unfortunately, the store in question didn't have any on the occasions I wanted to check the drink out.

Asda had an eight-pack and a 2 litre bottle when I did my online order this week. I took a gamble and ordered both the multipack of cans and a bottle just in case they didn't have stock of either. My punt paid off because they didn't have cans. However, they thankfully had a bottle.

I tried a glass of it last night.

I like the 70s(esque) look of the packaging of the new drink

When I uncrewed the cap, a waft - reminiscent of Cherry Coke - struck me. I love Cherry Cola, so that was a beautiful introduction to the latest Dr. Pepper.

The taste was just as lovely. When I drank it, I found myself thinking it tasted like a cherry drink I've had in the past. It wasn't a Cherry Coke, or any sort of cola for that matter.

But then my nephew said something which made me go 'Yes, that is it!'

He noted that its flavour reminded him of the cherry Haribo sweets. And that is exactly what this drink tastes and reminds me of.

It was a good job I had a sidekick with me on this project, because I doubt I would have made the initial conclusion that this drink absolutely tastes like Haribo.

Out of all the Haribo sweets there are, the cherries are my number one. Therefore, Dr. Pepper Cherry Crush gets two thumbs up from me. Giant ones at that.

As for whether I would go out of my way to drink it again - absolutely!
