Being Recommended Championship Manager Videos On YouTube Leads Me To Reminisce

I've recently found that YouTube has been recommending a lot of videos of people playing a computer game series I absolutely loved back in the day.

So - of course I'm going to click on them.

The games are Championship Manager - the football coaching simulation game which was a big hit during my later years at high school (and beyond).

Watching these YouTube videos has made me want to play these games all over again. I still have versions from 2000 and 2001 stored away, so it is an achievable goal.

With that said, my overall favourite edition of Championship Manager was the one I played.. well, coming to think of it, I suppose it's almost thirty years to the day.

I used to be in charge of Cardiff City and I would print off my results at the conclusion of each season. If I still had that early Championship Manager game, I would go well out of my way to play it.

Anyway, back to the videos I've been watching - one YouTuber has been controlling the West Ham squad from 2001. It struck me that it was quite a decent side back then. If I were to ever play that game again, I'd - for sure - have a go at managing The Hammers.

In 2020, I wrote about my favourite signing on that version of Championship Manager. Unfortunately, it isn't a happy post because it also covers the tragedy that befell the player in real-life.
