The Return Of SNME (Again)

WWE brings back one of its iconic shows tonight.

Saturday Night's Main Event was a big deal on NBC back during the WWF/E's initial boom period. It was a special which would be put in place of Saturday Night Live spotted across the Network's schedule between 1985 and 1992. It also had an initial revival in the 21st Century.

Tonight's show, which will be headlined by Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens, will be the thirty-seventh edition.

The aforementioned 21st Century revival of SNME occurred during the late 2000s. In my opinion, it didn't have the 'special' feel that I got from watching the earlier versions.

With all that said, tonight's edition promises to be nostalgia-filled. The company is bringing back Jesse 'The Body' Ventura - who was the color commentator during SNME's peak run. There has also been a skit filmed teasing that Cody Rhodes will wear the WWE Championship with the winged eagle - the most iconic version of that belt.

I could write an entire post, and then some, of my love for THAT version of the WWE Title. Seeing it in 2024 is the big draw for me for tonight.
