Cover Browsing

I am browsing through a thread on TAFKA Twitter with one of the biggest smiles on my face.

Somebody has asked their followers to recommend 1980s horror films that are 'dumb, silly and comically delicious'.

There are so many films being suggested in which I either watched and loved (hey, I was young back then!) or I am being introduced to for the very first time.

I am also laughing at some of the video cassette covers that are being attached to the recommendations because many of those images remind me of my trips to the video shop.

Nowadays, you can browse through movie covers on streaming platforms and get to watch the film with a click of your finger. That's cool, but there's something nostalgic about having to walk around the stacked shelves looking for something to rent.

And this is when your choice was an important one. You can easily stop a film and head back to the library through streaming. Back then, you had to live with your selection. Or just quit and lose the rental fee.

Oh, those were the days.
