The announcement was made yesterday during NBC's televised coverage of the Kentucky Derby.
This will be the latest a WrestleMania has ever taken place. Following this year's Mania, WWE's president - Nick Khan - had made it clear he planned to move the event away from its regular time of the year due to clashes with the NCAA Basketball finals.
Mania taking place on April 19th and 20th moves the event a fortnight beyond the NCAA fixtures which will be played out in San Antonio's Alamodome.
Selfishly, I hoped Mania would take place in the first weekend of May because it would have been very close to my birthday. I guess it wasn't meant to be.
Well, not next year, anyway.
For the majority of the past year, it had looked like Minnesota's US Bank Stadium was the front-runner to secure WrestleMania 41. And maybe it was. The final decision evidently didn't work in the city's favour.
This will be the second time WrestleMania has emanated from Las Vegas. The ninth edition of WWE's biggest show of the year took place from Caesar's Palace on April 4th 1993.
