On January 1st, I posted my annual predictions for what was then the year ahead. Now that it's the final day of 2022, it's time to take a look back and see how these guesses panned out.
One of the teams in the Super Bowl will be the Green Bay Packers
They weren't.
The other team is the Indianapolis Colts
Not this time.
Personal goal: I'll win a competition
I didn't.
Despite there being reports that WWE Day 1 will become an annual New Year's Day PPV (it airs tonight), there will be no Day 1 planned for January 2023
Well.. I'll call this one a win on a technicality. WWE did plan to hold its second Day One PPV for January 1st 2023, but - by November - the decision was made to cancel it.
Brock Lesnar will win the men's 2022 Royal Rumble
He did.
Bayley will win the women's 2022 Royal Rumble
She didn't.
Newcastle United will be top of the league on December 31st
I had a feeling Newcastle would be relegated. Notice how I didn't specify which league? They weren't relegated into the Championship and they are currently not at the top of the Premier League, so this was a losing guess. As of this morning, they’re two places below current leaders - Arsenal - in the Premiership.
Cardiff will host a WWE PPV
It did! Clash at the Castle took place from the Principality Stadium in September.
Wales will qualify for the World Cup
They did! It went downhill from there.

SANADA will win this year's NJPW G1 Climax
Nope, it was Kazuchika Okada.
An old school character from Home and Away will make a return to the soap (it's too easy to make the same prediction for Neighbours as it always happens)
Funny how I mentioned the part about Neighbours' old school characters popping up frequently months ahead of the news that Neighbours would be cancelled, which resulted in a cast of Neighbours legends - like Shane Ramsay, Charlene Robinson, Scott Robinson and Mike Young - making their return for the final episodes.
As for Home and Away - I cannot recall any of its legendary characters making a return, so I have to concede defeat on this one.
Chelsea will win the FA Cup
Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties.
AEW will finally host an event from Craven Cottage
It still hasn't happened.
France will win the World Cup (if it goes ahead!)
The World Cup went ahead and France lost to Argentina on penalties in the final. Close, but no cigar!
The plan to relaunch the XFL ahead of its 2023 relaunch will fail
My guess looks way off. It looks like everything is going well in regards to the relaunch set for springtime.
Vince McMahon will no longer be in charge of WWE by 11:59PM GMT December 31 2022
I lucked out on this one. I came up with this one after seeing so many people being fired by WWE. I suspected that they were being released to make way for a sale. Instead, WWE was not sold. However, Vince McMahon was forced to retire after some skeletons from his business closet were revealed.
