On the day before the Euros kicked off, I had a little over £4 remaining in my betting account, so I thought I'd have a bet on three teams to win their opening games.
Italy obliged on Friday with their 3-0 victory over the Turks. The next team in the bet - Belgium - beat Russia the following evening.
It was all down to Holland last night.
I sat watching the game as the team I needed to win went 2-0 up. I then saw a mini implosion as Ukraine came back to make it 2-2.
At that point, I wouldn't have been surprised if Ukraine ended up winning the game.
But then, victory came from the jaws of a potential draw, when Denzel Dumfries scored in the eighty-fifth minute.
Shortly before the final whistle, I logged into my betting account to find that my winnings had already been credited.
I had totally forgotten about the firm's offer which sees bets settled as winners if the team you've bet on goes ahead by two goals.
There was a time - while watching that game - where I thought the bet had lost. In reality, it had already won thanks to the promotion.
On one hand, that's great. On the other - I'd still like to enjoy a full game of ups and downs and the fun is taken away with the 2 goal offer.
I'm not going to complain too much, though. A win is a win.
