I watched the first trailer for the upcoming Star Wars movie yesterday.
First things first, I'm not too keen on the title - The Rise of Skywalker. It seems kind of stupid, in my opinion, considering we've seen other Skywalkers already 'rise'.
I don't even get the 'Skywalker' thing anyway. This current trilogy appears to me to be a Ben Solo redemption story. His mother - Princess Leia - is a Skywalker twin, but she was adopted by the Organas and then supposedly married Han Solo.
Speaking of Leia, it was good to see Carrie Fisher in the trailer. Her parts will be done by computer technology after she passed away a few years ago.
There were two BIG things that stood out to me.
Billy Dee Williams back in the Millennium Falcon's cockpit as Landa Calrissian was something I've been looking forward to since I first found out he was going to be in the movie.
There was a familiar laugh at the end of the trailer. Ian McDiarmid will reprise his role as Emperor Palpatine. The last time we saw Palpatine - if we go by the middle trilogy and not the prequels that came out most recently - he was apparently killed by Darth Vader on the new Death Star.
I look forward to seeing how this all plays out....
