Thoughts On Hulk Hogan's Birthday Bash

This past Monday's edition of WWE Raw celebrated Hulk Hogan's 61st birthday with video messages sent from an array of celebrities as well as a birthday bash to close out the show.

The celebs that offered videos were people like Flo Rida, Weird Al Yankovich, Aaron Rodgers, AJ Hawk, Larry King and Drew Brees to name a few.

Raw's closing segment featured Hogan in the ring along with Jimmy Hart and 'Mean' Gene Okerlund. A nice video tribute aired and then Hogan's contemporaries like Ric Flair, Paul Orndorff, Roddy Piper, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall made their way down to join in the celebration.

The end of the show set up this Sunday's SummerSlam main event as Brock Lesnar, with his manager - Paul Heyman - came down to confront the wrestling legends. This prompted John Cena to sprint down to make the save leading to a staredown.

I think it did do two good things at once. It gave Hogan a moment and built towards the money match for Sunday. It was a perfect balance.
