I Comment On Microsoft's Decision To Allow Streaming For Free

Xbox users were told recently that they'll no longer have to be an Xbox Live Gold subscriber to be able to access streaming entertainment apps like Netflix.

It's about time.

I own an Xbox, but have never felt compelled to purchase a membership as I only use the console as a Windows Media Center extender.

If I needed to stream anything, I'd simply use a Playstation, my television, phone, or tablet.

Hell, I could use a PC.

That's a long list of things, right?

This right there just proves how poor Microsoft's decision to require a membership was.

Customers could find other ways to stream content and do it for free.

Microsoft's decision was the right one. However, they shouldn't have been in the position in the first place.

It was a rip off.

And now they've finally worked it out.

This will go into effect from June 1st.
