By tomorrow morning, we'll know the two teams that will be in this year's Super Bowl. So - as I have done on this blog in the past - I'm going to rank the possible games in order of personal preference.
4. New England vs Atlanta
If you know me, then you should be aware that I detest the New England Patriots (ABNE!). I hate them. If they do get into the Super Bowl, I would dislike seeing them face Atlanta because I feel they would have a better chance of beating Atlanta when they meet. With that said, Atlanta are a dome team and this year's game is taking place indoors so it could be a good game.
3. Baltimore vs Atlanta
You thought I was going to have New England in spot number three, didn't you? On paper, this match doesn't strike me as being a barn burner. It would make a change not seeing New England in a Super Bowl so that's why it's higher than fourth on my list.
2. New England vs San Francisco
The last time these two played against each other was in week fifteen. On that night San Francisco bested the Patriots in a 41-34 thriller. It was one, if not the, best game of the season. I'd like to see the rematch again, but not under the Super Bowl banner as New England will be out to avenge the previous loss and I cannot see them lose to the same team twice.
1. Baltimore vs San Francisco
The Harbaugh Bowl. In last year's scenarios post, I was semi-keen on seeing the Harbaugh brothers going head coach-to-head coach in a Super Bowl. This possibility is alive in 2013 so I'd like to see that. The only problem I can see with this is the media attention in the lead-in to the big game. Two weeks of Harbaugh versus Harbaugh talk is not something I am anticipating. Thankfully, the Ray Lewis retirement story will also be one of the subplots to this game. Oh, and there's also the fact that I have Baltimore to win the Super Bowl at 25/1 as well as the 49ers at 18/1. It will be a night where I'll be cheering both (but leaning slightly on the Ravens).
