A number of weeks ago, I noted that there were rumours of World Wrestling Entertainment bringing SummerSlam back to the UK next year.
Cardiff, London and Manchester were named as possible cities to host the pay-per-view. However, it is now looking that the event will once again be staged in Los Angeles.
Sheamus said as much in an interview with Conan O'Brien the other night.
I had doubts that the 2013 event would take place in the UK. Here is what I wrote back on November 10th:
I'm curious whether SummerSlam 2013 is going to be the event as Los Angeles has been the home to SummerSlam since 2009 and the Staples Center is still pencilled in for next year
If a SummerSlam is going ro be held in the UK, I guess 2014 is the earliest we can expect it.
It should also be noted that the original story of meetings being held with WWE and representatives of the Millennium Stadium, Wembley and Old Trafford was published in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and did not specifically state that SummerSlam was the event being lined up for these shows.
