Hunter/Bruno

As I write this on Tuesday evening, Triple H has either met - or is about to meet - Bruno Sammartino in the hope of securing Sammartino's place in the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2013.

The former WWWF champion (yes, there were four Ws back then) had a public falling out with Vince McMahon in the late 1980s and early 90s.

Sammartino has stuck to his word and has never done anything for World Wrestling Entertainment since the schism despite attempts from WWE to get their longest reigning world champion back into the fold.

One such attempt came earlier this year when Triple H sent out a feeler, via telephone, to Sammartino to entice him to accept a place at the Hall of Fame for next year. The idea sounded perfect on paper as it would honour Sammartino at Madison Square Garden - the venue where he main evented countless wrestling cards as champion.

Sammartino rejected the offer but made it publicly aware that he thought Triple H was very respectful in his approach.

Dave Meltzer had noted that Triple H and Bruno were going to meet on Tuesday in another attempt to get him involved in next year's ceremony.

It would be great if he does accept. Bruno Sammartino deserves to be honoured.

However, if he feels he would be going against his word - you can't fault the guy if he turns the offer down once again.
