Scouse Subterfuge

A scene from the Liverpool FC fly-on-the-wall documentary, Being Liverpool, made me laugh.

Manager, Brendan Rodgers, was holding a team meeting and held up three envelopes. He told his players that - inside these envelopes - were names of players who he believes will be the ones that will let the side down this season.

Who is he fooling?

Alex Ferguson did the same thing, albeit with one envelope, in the year that Manchester United won their first Premier League trophy.

He also revealed it to be subterfuge.

Anybody who has read Fergie's autobiography or under the age of six or, better yet, with a shred of common sense will realise that the paper inside Rodgers' envelopes are blank.

Liverpool are currently sitting in fourteenth place in the league table. They've had one win in seven games.

If things don't improve, the Liverpool owners will open their own envelope and discard the name they have written inside.
