Emmerdale Betting

Emmerdale celebrates its fortieth anniversary this week with a live episode to air on Wednesday night. Apparently, one of the characters will be killed off in it.

Paddy Power had been taking bets on who it will be with Alan Turner (3/1) the favourite.

Out of the current crop of characters, Alan Turner is the longest surviving name. He hasn't really been involved in any of the main storylines for quite some time so it's understandable why he would be the top of the list.

The only problem with him being favourite is the wording of the build-up to Wednesday's show. Press releases from ITV have claimed that the person who meets their maker will have 'had it coming'. Considering what I noted about his absence in any key storylines, I'd look to someone else to bet on.

Carl King (4/1) is the second favourite and would qualify in the 'had it coming' sweepstakes. However, is he too much of an obvious choice?

The one name I would have a punt on is missing from the list of names that I've found on the Internet. Declan Macey's nephew, Robbie, has been quite the toe-rag since he joined the soap.

He is currently involved in a storyline that could see him have what was coming to him. He would be my selection if I had a gun to my head.

Two other names I wouldn't be surprised to see meet the scriptwriter's rubber are Cameron Murray (5/1) and Jai Sharma (20/1) with the latter being the least likely of the names I've mentioned.
