Brawl For All

I don't know what to make of the Dereck Chisora and David Haye brawl which took place at a press conference in Germany on Saturday night.

The incident occurred when Chisora was conducting a post-match discussion with the press following his points loss to heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko. David Haye happened to be at this conference (cough cough) and the pair started verbally jousting. Frank Maloney - Chisora's promoter - suggested the pair face up to each other in the ring with the winner getting a title shot. Chisora took his microphone with him and walked to the back of the room where Haye was and the two started fighting.

Blood and broken bottles were the order of the day.

Boxing seems desperate when it has to resort to these incidents to hype fights. It is even more desperate when you consider the fight between the pair hasn't even been signed off on.

I probably am in the pro wrestling bubble where I see things like this and think 'that's a work'. Whether I am wrong or not, the entire thing was embarrassing for all involved.

And it's a bigger embarrassment to boxing.
