Yesterday was the eighth week since Vicki left us. That meant it was also the seventh week I've done one of my Saturday evening tributes to her.
I put a lot of improvisation into last night's effort.
I remembered a few years ago, when I had bought Vick a pouch of Aero Bubbles chocolates for Easter, that she messaged me excited by a concoction she had came up with.
Vick told me she had been sitting down eating Animal Crackers and had them in a little bowl next to the chocolate and she had a lightbulb moment. Actually, I may as well let her tell you:
We don't have the Animal Crackers they have in the USA. However, we do have something called Cadbury Animals and they're biscuits with an animal etched on one side and a chocolate coating on the reverse.
I don't think they're anything like the US version, but I had to improvise.
So, when the time came, I sat myself down - with some Cadbury Animals and melted Aero Bubbles - and had a few for Vick.
When I was told about the idea, I didn't give a positive reaction. I replied with 'that sounds.... I dunno'.
Vick replied with 'well, it was good!'
And now, all these years later, I tried my own version of the idea and - well - I have to say it was a nice treat.
I'm sure Vick would have liked this improvised version because of the biscuits I used having chocolate on one side of it.
It's not something I would have ever thought about doing, so that's another thing I can thank Vick for. And there will be future attempts at doing these Animals and dips. I used the mint Aero Bubbles for last night's one (because I have a feeling that was the flavour I had sent overseas). I could try doing it with original or orange flavoured chocolates next time.
Can't believe its 2 months still waits for her coming in room. she will never be forgotten . Not had them in decades animals I bet there not the same as they used too be. Not as much chocolate too.
ReplyDeleteNah, they're definitely not like back in the day. Same idea, but the biscuit is more chocolatey and the animals are 3D(ish) now.
DeleteAlso comes in smalls bags rather than a box.
I do miss the old style.
