I didn't watch WWE SummerSlam last night but what I have done is read the results from the event and it seems that the framework of an idea I speculated on came to fruition.
I was anticipating CM Punk unifying both WWE titles by defeating John Cena at the close of the show and then having Triple H - who was the referee - turn on Punk and beat him down. Alberto Del Rio would then run in and cash his immediate title shot, pin Punk and become new WWE champion.
What actually happened was; Punk defeated Cena by pinfall (Triple H made the pin but missed Cena's foot on the rope which will lead to something at Raw and beyond, I suppose) and then Punk was attacked by Kevin Nash. Del Rio then made his way to the ring and cashed in his title shot to become WWE champ.
I have to give credit to WWE for bringing Nash in on that angle. It was something that no one had thought of when guessing how the show would end.
I suppose Nash will somehow be storyline related to Triple H's new character now. The two are good friends in real life so it could play into Hunter bringing him in to screw the title from Punk.
Even though I didn't see the show, I'm going to give this angle a thumbs up only because they managed to do something different to what I thought they would.
