I go through a hibernation period in American sports betting once the Super Bowl is over so I cut myself away from listening to the gambling podcasts that I spend a lot of time listening to during the regular season.
With the release of the 2010 schedules, I decided to spend yesterday listening to the latest shows.
And I was met with bad news.
Apparently, a few weeks ago, one of the hosts I listened to for sport tips was found dead alongside his wife in what looks to be a double suicide.
Wanting to get more from this story - I searched the news sites and looked at the site he owned and operated and read the last few posts he left on his message board.
There are a lot of conspiracy theories about the circumstances.
Some people are even speculating that this was because of the FBI indicting a lot of illegal bookmakers over the past few weeks. Some say he took his life before they caught up with him, others are even contemplating the thought that he went under the witness protection program and the death of him and his wife was subterfuge.
I'd like to believe it was the latter but it seems too Hollywood for that.
It's a sad situation with more questions than answers.
