They say it isn't over until the fat lady sings.
But Deborah Voigt has just opened her mouth.
You may recall my season bet had Real Madrid to win the Champions' League. They have now become the first official loser on the bet.
Sure, there are a few more teams on the bet which look likely to fail - the Madrid one was confirmed when Lyon kicked them out of the competition the other day.
Lyon. Lyon. Lyon.
The French team have been underwhelming for the last two seasons in their domestic league so it was surprising to see them leapfrog over Madrid in a tougher competition.
Real Madrid have been underwhelming for a while also but their fortunes looked to have changed with the mass spending spree they went on during the summer.
The club spent £232 million on such players like Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso and Kaka but were not good enough when it mattered most.
The story was all set for them, too.
The Bernabeu Stadium is the host venue for the final. It would have been the perfect denouement with them lifting the trophy and me putting a tick on my betting slip.
Instead, another team will raise the award.
And I'll put the red line through them on the slip.
