Series Finale

I had planned on spending today's post explaining why I wasn't going to bother doing a betting series to run from this weekend until the first weekend of May but another 'Series' was brought to an end.

Firstly, the betting series idea I had was put on the shelf because I just cannot put as much time into it as I had last year so felt I would only be making rash decisions and sharing them with you.

It's also not fun to be losing each week, so I would rather be a loser on my own!

The news coming out of WWE yesterday was that Vince McMahon has decided to withdraw the Survivor Series from the pay-per-view calendar as of this year.

The reason is due to the low buyrates for the November 2009 version of the event.

McMahon's reasoning for the low number is he felt the concept had died. He said the team versus team idea was good in its day but things have changed.

Damn right things have changed.

For a start - how many of the recent Survivor Series events promoted the team matches as the selling point for the show?

Not many.

The excuse that this is the reason for the low numbers doesn't cut it here, if you ask me.

WWE hasn't had a Survivor Series event where every single match was a Survivors bout since 1990.

Why hadn't they pulled the plug on the event earlier than now?
