Total Nonstop Action officially announced that they will be moving their Thursday night Impact programme to Monday nights to compete against WWE's Monday Night Raw.
The first live show - as revealed in the press release - will be on March 8th. The following week's episode will then be taped on the 9th and aired on the 15th.
This sequence will be frequent meaning live shows will only air every two weeks which, in the current climate, has to be seen as a cost cutting measure.
It's a big step. Their most recent head-to-head Monday episode, which was a testing of the waters, generated a 1.5 rating which was hailed a success by TNA and the television station it aired on, Spike TV.
It will be interesting to see how they can sustain the good ratings as they will be directly opposing Raw.
On January 4th, TNA had an hour head-start and they lost viewers as the three hour show progressed as people turned over to watch WWE. There won't be the benefit of a first hour this time around.
And that's why I don't see this as a great move on TNA's part. They should have done a few more Monday night specials to see how things went. Making a big move like this after one good week is crazy.
And I bet they'll figure that out later rather than sooner - just like WCW.
