Pretty Ricky

Ron Killings debuted a new character on Smackdown this past Friday night.

Pretty Ricky.

I'm not sure what to make of this new gimmick. He wore fake teeth and they recorded him outside the arena, walking into the foyer, jumping the merchandise booth and then getting escorted out from the building by security. Throughout the filming he would say 'I'm Pretty Ricky'.

In the late-nineties one of the WWF's advertising slogans was 'Get It'. In 2009, watching the Pretty Ricky skit, I don't 'Get It'.

Was it meant to have been funny? I didn't laugh.

Was it meant to play on racial stereotypes? If so, I didn't understand the context.

The only thing I thought it may have been was a parody of the Mr Pregnant guy who has a plethora of videos up on Youtube. I wrote about him on here over a year ago.

So, in closing, Pretty Ricky didn't work.

It was a confusing gimmick that made no sense to one member of the WWE audience. All I think it is is a rip-off of a Youtube 'celebrity'.
