I wasn't surprised that Manchester United agreed an £80 million deal to send Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid. I had been awaiting that transfer for years.
So, was it a good deal?
Ideally, a player shouldn't cost that much especially during the current economic climate. You can't fault Manchester United for accepting that price but I am worried for what this means for football in general.
A precedent has now been set on the valuation of players and the figures could get scary over the next decade or so.
Then again, this may be the last of the big sales until the worldwide recession is taken care of.
If it ever does.
