Christian's Return

I was just reading what happened on ECW last night and was mildly surprised to see Christian return to the WWE.

I knew he had left TNA and was expecting him to show up sooner or later. I assumed he would have ended up being involved in the Jeff Hardy/Matt Hardy/Edge feud that has been going on since the Autumn.

Him being brought back to the company on the ECW brand is rather telling and is the reason why my surprise was mild.

Vince McMahon told Christian in 2005 that he did not see the wrestler as anything more than a mid-level talent. This prompted Christian to prove McMahon wrong by seeing out the rest of his contract and then join the rival TNA group where he did headline events.

But, that was TNA. Even the former Dudley Boys have been headliners over there.

Three years on, it looks like Vince McMahon still believes Christian is midcard for life.

ECW is not the kind of show where top stars work. It's only a place for up-and-comers and people who can prepare people for the big push.

Christian will just end up being a utility player, you mark my words.

Another thing you must understand is the WWE has to look superior to TNA. Of course, it is already - they just need to hammer it home as often as they can. Installing a former TNA star into a major feud like the Hardy Boys angle would send a bad message that TNA stars are better than some on the current WWE roster.

It may be humbling for Christian to be brought back in this way but business is business.
