Elite XC, R.I.P.

Only time will tell but Kimbo Slice may end up being another one of the media's flash-in-the-pans that fell from popularity.
Ironically, his employers may be the ones that fall first

I knew things were going bad for Elite XC when I ended the post two weeks ago. Little did I know there was a lot more trouble in store for the mixed martial arts company.

Seth Petruzelli's fourteen second knock-out of Kimbo Slice was nothing compared to the killer blow he dealt his employers in the hours after his victory.

Petruzelli did a number of media interviews and made one of the most incredible revelations that resulted in Elite XC being investigated by the Florida Boxing Commission.

He was paid to keep the fight off the ground.

Sure, he wasn't paid to lose. It's just that he was paid to be handicapped against an opponent who was a better fighter standing. It's corrupt whichever way you care to look at it.

It was this corruption that forced CBS to pull out of negotiations to purchase the company. Elite XC were swimming in serious debt and this sale was their last chance of reaching safer ground.

Their next show has still not been cancelled but all the fighters have been told it is off. It's only a matter of days, if not hours, until Elite XC is pronounced dead.
