The Usual Suspects

I watched the TV special titled, 'Bring Back..Star Wars' on Sunday night and have to admit, it was an epic fail on a number of levels.

The premise of this show was for Justin Lee Collins to reunite the cast of the original 1977 Star Wars movie. To do this, he travelled to the USA and places in the UK in an attempt to coax the stars to travel to London for this reunion.

He met Carrie Fisher and had an interview with her. She said she would go to the meet-up but no showed at the end.

Peter Mayhew - who played Chewbacca in the movies - was nabbed, too. He sort of said he would go but ended up missing from the party as well.

Conspicuous by their absence in the entire show was Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill.

How can you do a successful Star Wars reunion show without the two lead characters? They made numerous attempts to coax Hamill into doing an interview but his agent demanded $50,000 which put closure to that.

Billy Dee Williams was also interviewed but he is currently on tour for with a travelling theatre company and wouldn't have been available to make the reunion. Had he been free - I doubt he would have bothered to show up as well.

So, who did show up for this reunion?

Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Warwick Davies (Wicket the Ewok) and David Prowse (Darth Vader) were the only stars to attend the night. Only two of these actors were even in the 1977 movie which points to me being right when I say this reunion was a failure.

It can also be noted that this list of actors can be found doing the convention circuit so it was nothing new for them to be reunited with their former colleagues.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy watching the show, I'm just saying I felt a bit cheated at the end because it didn't really do what was written on the box.
