On The Rampage

The world of Mixed Martial Arts was in the news over the last few days when former light heavyweight champion - Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson -was arrested on two separate occasions.

Jackson was involved in a high speed chase with a police vehicle after ignoring signals to pull over when the officer noticed the fighter on his mobile phone and driving with a flat tyre. This chase continued for about a mile with Jackson driving on wrong sides of the road as well as on the pavement forcing pedestrians to flee for their lives.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the chase.

The flat tyre bursting eventually led Jackson to give up running. Pictures from the scene show Jackson laid on the floor with officers aiming guns in his direction.

The fighter was charged with evading arrest, hit-and-run and reckless driving. He was later bailed to the tune of $25,000 which was posted by UFC owner, Dana White.

That wasn't the end of it, though.

The following day, a police officer was called to the home of Quinton Jackson after a friend showed concern over the fighter's mental health. Jackson was then sent to hospital for observation.

These incidents have got me wondering how Dana White will deal with 'Rampage'. If he gets fired from his UFC contract it will open the door for him to join a rival, up-and-coming group. I am sure a suspension or fine will be levied but I doubt those in the UFC will run the risk in firing him.

UFC will have to take a lot of care with this situation, though. It could end up being a headache that they may not have a remedy for.

The mainstream are watching.
