Lance Cade took part in the beat-down at the end of Raw last night. This was his first major angle as a WWE wrestler.
The final segment of the night involved Chris Jericho and Triple H in a grudge match following Jericho's attack of Shawn Michaels on last week's episode. In the closing moments of this match, Lance Cade ran down to the ringside area and attacked Triple H in order to help Jericho.
Then, John Cena came out to help Hunter until both heels managed to get the upper hand to leave the two laying.
The introduction of Lance Cade to a main event feud looks puzzling on the surface. But, if you delve deeper, there is a reason why he could be brought in.
Cade being involved with Chris Jericho in his feud with Shawn Michaels makes sense as it was Michaels who trained Cade at Shawn Michaels' Wrestling Academy back when Michaels was retired from the sport following a severe back injury.
The fact that Lance Cade was trained by the Heartbreak Kid hasn't been referred to on WWE television before so I think that this angle may lead to this revelation.
I'm not sure whether they will use this as part of the storyline, it would add a bit of a back-story to the angle if they did do this. I'm sure we'll find out as it progresses.
It is refreshing to see someone new in a big feud. Whether this will be the start of a regular push for Cade is dependent upon the reaction he receives from the viewers at home and in the arena.
