Penny Banner

Another legendary female pro wrestler passed away this week.

Penny Banner was wrestling long before I became a fan as her twenty-three year career had ended two years before I was born.

In her later-life she had worked as an estate agent and published her autobiography Banner Days in 2005. It was a few months after the release of this book when she was diagnosed with cancer.

As I mentioned, I hadn't heard about her until she made her way back into the wrestling news with the release of her book. I heard a number of interviews with her on online radio shows and one of the most interesting things about her was she was a one-time girlfriend of Elvis Presley.

The last I heard her name mentioned was earlier this year when I heard that Johnny Weaver had died. She was once married to him so his obituary mentioned the tumultuous marriage they had.

She passed away on May 12th.
