Britain's Got Talent 2008

Britain's Got Talent is one of the only reality-based shows I watch from beginning to end. I watch X Factor until the audition process is over and then give up on it, I guess I like a car crash.

Britain's Got Talent certainly has car crash potential throughout its show so that's probably the real reason why I stay tuned throughout.

In tonight's final, I am hoping Kate and Gin win. This act is one of the most spectacular because the dog (Gin, not Kate) is so agile it's unbelievable. Kate must have spent hour upon hour teaching her dog tricks and that kind of dedication shouldn't go unnoticed.

My 'everything is a work' mind tells me the winners will end up being Escala. This group were given the final slot in the entire forty semi-finalists as well as a standing ovation from the judges. Very impartial!

The news that Escala were invited to the competition by Simon Cowell after he saw them perform at the X Factor wrap party in 2007 leads me to think this year's show was used as a vehicle to showcase this group and nothing more.

I found the appearance of Madonna Decana on this series to be shallow by her and the producers. This woman is from the Philippines and has been working over here to earn money to send over to her children back home. She has been here for six months yet was eligible to take part in this series.

The sob story went so far as for her to claim in her opening video that she was not there to beg for votes because of her situation to her second video where she says that winning is a life or death situation for her. Sounds like begging to me. Oh, and let's also not forget her performance with the additional picture of her children on the screen behind her.

I am not a heartless person but this was begging of the highest order and I don't even blame her entirely for this. It's the producers who are fault for this kind of emotional blackmail to the viewer.

I know each act needs an angle but enough of the sob stories already. It's a talent show after all.
