Monday night proved to me why I am a wrestling fan.
For years, I have often wondered why I continue to tune in to the televisions shows, read the books, newsletters & magazines, buy DVDs and everything else. I never could find the right answer.
I could easily say 'I love wrestling,' but that's a cop-out without fully answering the question.
If you haven't seen that episode of Raw this week, you need to seek it out. It includes the most classy thing the company has ever done.
The show was centred on Ric Flair giving his farewell speech. He came out near the end of the show thanking the fans for their support over his career and told them not to be sad. He finished up his speech and was then interrupted by Triple H. They shared an embrace in the ring and then Hunter brought out a list of people from Ric's past.
Arn Anderson, JJ Dillon, Barry Windham, Tully Blanchard, Ricky Steamboat, Batista, Harley Race and Shawn Michaels were just some of the names that were introduced to the crowd.
Flair's children and wife also came out, this was then followed by the entire crew of people working for the WWE.
It was such a touching way to say goodbye to the Nature Boy.
The next time I ask myself why I am a fan of pro wrestling all I will need to do is turn this episode on again.
Thank you, Ric.
