If you were from my generation you must have heard about the Rambo series of films.
There was a small group of friends I was a part of back then that watched every fifteen or eighteen rated action film we could get our hands on and Rambo was one of them.
The problem with our 'love' for Rambo was we only recognised Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III because First Blood wasn't about him fighting wars. Silly reasoning eh?
Twenty odd years later I would like to make this statement -
First Blood IS the best Rambo film. I was wrong to consider the others as being better.
A big part of me ended up being let-down with the story in Rambo III. It's kind of ironic to look at it now considering the American hero was defending Afghanistan from the Russians.
I am going on this Rambo nostalgia route because the fourth movie is released in British cinemas today. I've read some reviews on it and they range from being terrible to fairly good so I will have to judge for myself when I get the opportunity to see the film.
What is up with the titling of the movie, though?
The first film was 'First Blood', the second was 'Rambo : First Blood Part II', the third was 'Rambo III' which made no sense considering 'Rambo' was the title of the second one so it should have really been titled 'Rambo 2: First Blood Part Three'.
Am I confusing you yet?
The new movie is called 'Rambo' but that's what the second one was already called. I really don't understand what is going on with Sylvester Stallone. Part of me is wondering whether he is shying away from numbering movies because what should have been titled 'Rocky VI' became 'Rocky Balboa' but if he did want to do that with his latest movie he should have simply named it 'John Rambo'.
I think my brain is about to explode - I'm sorry if it's done the same to you.
